Library Borrowing

Picture
Each class is allocated a 20 minute library borrowing timeslot on either Wednesday or Friday mornings with Mrs Piper. During their specific library borrow time class teachers will help students with appropriate selections.

Library Borrowing Timetable:

-         Kindergarten & Year 6: Wednesday morning

-         Years 1,2,3,4 & 5: Friday mornings

Library Borrowing Limit:

-         Kinders may borrow one book each library borrowing session in Semester 1 and two books each library borrowing session in Semester 2.

-         Years 1 - 6 may borrow a maximum of 2 Fiction and 2 Non-Fiction books at any one time, unless permission to borrow more is discussed with the Teacher Librarian or Library Assistant.

Book Returns:

-         Students are asked to return all books to the class return box on the morning of their specific borrowing day.

-         If a student forgets to return their books from the previous week, they will only be permitted to borrow one book.

-         If a student wishes to renew a book they are asked bring the book to their library borrowing session.

Book Bags:

To protect books students require a Library Bag. We have a “No bag – No borrowing” policy – so don’t forget the Library Bag please!

Damaged or Lost books:

If a library book is damaged in any way (ripped, torn, wet or the baby ate it!) please return it to school with a written explanation.  Please do not repair it at home. We have special materials and equipment designed for the task and there are particular techniques we use in book repair.  Depending on the extent of the damage, replacement costs may be sought.

We understand that books do occasionally get lost.  If this happens, please let us know so that while you are trying to find the book we can also search our shelves in-case it has turned up there.  If the book still cannot be found, arrangements will need to be made to replace the book.

Resource suggestions:

We try to keep the library well resources with a current, curriculum related and inspiring selection of books.  To help us do so, please feel free to make any suggestions.
